My Review

(ARC Review: Only my opinions and reactions from the book as a whole will be revealed. I will not be discussing any major plot points, or spoils.)

Let me first start off by saying that I'm sorry I haven't done this review sooner. I got this ARC copy at BookCon this year and was so excited to review it on my blog. But life happen, other book releases happened, book events happened, and I sadly didn't read it until now. But never fear Carey and Lorie didn't disappoint with this one. They have outdone themselves once more, and did phenomenal like they always do. I really loved seeing both Carey and Lorie putting so much into making this final installment amazing. Because it showed in their epic concluding plot line, in their unique and distinct writing styles, in their characters, and in their creative world of Doon. I absolutely loved it, I loved it so much.  I did shed a few tears knowing that this is it for Vee and Kenna, Jamie and Duncan, and all of the Doonians I have come to love so much. Thank you Carey and Lorie for writing such an unforgettable story, and for starting my love for all things Scottish. This series is finally coming to its bitter-sweet end, and I so proud and happy for both of you, you have truly changed my life through this magical saga. Truly moving, and awe-striking. I highly recommend you pick this one up when it comes out tomorrow, if you have read the others, trust me you won't regret it. And if you haven't picked up this series yet, you should, it will change your life. Thanks again Carey and Lorie for this incredible series, I don't think I'll be forgetting Doon anytime soon. And I can't wait to see what you ladies have in store for me in the future, weather that be together or separate, I'll be waiting.

My Review

(ARC Review: Only my opinions and reactions from the book as a whole will be revealed. I will not be discussing any major plot points, or spoils.)

Let me just start off by saying that this book was mind-blowing and utterly profound. I haven't read anything this good since Harry Potter, Throne of Glass, or The Fault in Our Stars. Giles has created a masterpiece that readers of any ages will love, as well as any kind of reader out there. What I mean by that is, this book has everything that will satisfy every type of reader. If you like a good contemporary, this book has it. If you like the supernaturals, this book has it. If you like murder mysteries and thrillers, this book has it. If you like cosmic romances or dystopians, by now you can probably guess it, this book has it. Somehow Giles was able to cram aspects from each genre into one book. I still can't wrap my head around how he did it, but he did. It's amazing! Giles also has an impeccable and unique writing style that is truly his own. Same with his characters. They are so fun, creative and are very easy to love. Zoe and X are so different from one another, but are so perfect together; they are two characters you're not going to want to miss. Same with Giles's plot. Just when I thought I knew where this was going, Giles turned everything completely on its head. Truly unforgettable! With this one, Giles will captivate readers; have them on the edge of their seats, and leave them with a craving for more. The Edge of Everything is one book I won't be forgetting anytime soon, and I will be waiting with anticipation to see what Giles is going to do next.

Cover Reveal Friday: Polaris by Beth Bowland

Today Beth Bowland and Month9Books are revealing the trailer for POLARIS, which releases August 16, 2016! Check out the gorgeous trailer and enter to win a paperback of the book!!

A quick note from the author:

When I first watched the trailer I was in awe, tears formed in my eyes, and I was frozen in my seat. I tried to say “OMG”, but only the “O” came out and “MG” got stuck, because at that moment I watched as my story literally took a breath and came to life.

I had such a great time writing Polaris, it combined my love for creating stories and conspiracy theories. I love “What Ifs” What if there is life on other planets? What if they’re really not so different than we are? The big ticket question, what if they’re already among us. Polaris takes a quirky but fun spin on an old conspiracy theory, but what if the conspiracy is not a theory…

On to the reveal!

She's lives in Edmonds, Washington, with her husband and two children. She also writes the parenting column "I Brake for Moms" for 'The Everett Daily Herald'. How cool?! July 22th -- Meet Blanca!

It's time for another 'Genesis Girl' post! Today's theme is a meet the character post. So with out further interruptions, meet Blanca. <> <> <> Blanca is an eighteen-year-old girl who is trying to live her life as normal as she can. Oh, but there's a huge catch. She has been completely sheltered for the online world. I know it's hard to believe that for eighteen years, she has never posted, uploaded, tweeted, liked, or shared anything about herself on the Internet. Do you think you could spend that long away from you computer or phone? To be honest, I couldn't. And she has no desire too, she is completely content with not going online at all. And by doing so she has secured her privacy completely, and also has complete control over it. So, she is a blank slate, no one knows hardly anything about her. By living a sheltered life, she doesn't eat many exotic foods. She eats mostly fish and vegetables. And her favorite color is white. She is a very loyal person. She looks up to her elders with respect, always does what she is told, and she also does what is expected of her. She is a very non-defiant person and she is also very stubborn when it comes to change, and her mind is almost impenetrable from being locked away from society her whole life. <> <> <> Be sure to come back on the 25th to see what to expect, and be prepared for, when you read this amazing book! Thank you, Grace from @lovingdembooksand @bookstagramtours for getting this book in my hands. And a HUGE thank you to@the_ya_gal for sharing your story with me. July 25th-- Meet Veritas Rex!

Yes, it's that time again! Time for another 'Genesis Girl' post! Today we're going to take a look at another fun character from this amazing book! He goes by the pin name "Veritas Rex". . . . "Veritas Rex" is another main character in this novel, and he's a troublemaker. He a blogger that likes to take revenge on his victims by exposing the truth. He is very sneaky, sly, and very manipulative. If I ever got the chance to meet him, I would most definitely proceed with caution. But once you get see him, it's hard to forget him. He has dark hair, is tattooed, and screams bad boy from head to toe. He is the complete opposite from Blanca, where he is online almost all the time. He never went to college, and lives in a sum-what messy apartment. But he cleans up quite nice around certain company. He is also very sarcastic and funny, and is pretty much every fangirl's dream. I know Sami has fallen for him. 😂😻 But I have a feeling "Veritas Rex" is more of a dog person. . . . To find out "Veritas Rex" became obsessed with finding the truth, and how he became famous/enfamous online, check out 'Genesis Girl" by the amazing @the_ya_gal. It was truly one of the best book I have read this year, and highly recommend you check it out! Tune in again on the 27th to meet Calum McNeal, the head of McNeal Solar. July 27th -- This Book Has WHAT In It?!?!

"Genesis Girl" by @the_ya_gal has so many different aspects in it, I don't know where to start. But here's me trying. This one is full of romance, manipulation, betrayal, mystery, some amazing sci-tech, and a whole lot of futuristic awesomeness! I loved this book so much, and it was so entertaining to see Bradsley's plot unfold with all these incredible aspects put into it. 😁 It was also very fast paced, and it has a certain pizazz to it that will hook you in with it's unique plot line. I have already said this, but I'll say it again; "Genesis Girl" is truly one of a kind, I haven't read anything like it. I highly recommend you pick this one up today! Trust me, you won't regret it! 😏📚🙆🙌 . . . Also, I spent the past few days on the beach. With the way "Genesis Girl" ended and how the sampler chapters for "Damaged Goods" began, I'd say it just seemed appropriate to get a shot of "Genesis Girl" in the sand. 😚📖🏖🏝 . . . Tune in on the 30th to meet Calum McNeal, the head of McNeal Solar. Thank you, Grace from @lovingdembooksand / @bookstagramtours for getting this book in my hands. July 30th -- Meet Cal McNeal!

It's that time again! It's time for another "Genesis Girl" themed post. Today we are going to take a look at one of my favorite characters; Calum McNeal. Cal for short. ❤📚 . . . Cal is more of a father figure in this book. He is the very successful head of McNeal Solar. Whoo Hoo! Go, Green Energy! His wife died years ago, and in a desperate attempt to mend the fraying relationship between him and his son; Seth, he recently made a 32 million dollar investment to turn his life around. The last time he saw his son, they didn't end on very good terms. And after being separated for so long, Cal has grown lonely. He misses coming home to a full house, misses his wife's smile, and his son's humor, and he can't stand roaming the halls of his empty estate alone. And all he can think of is, "Where did it all go wrong?" But little does Cal know this this investment was far more then he bargained for, and can even lead him to his end. . . . To find out more about where Cal and Seth's relation ship went wrong, and what his 32 million dollar investment was, check out "Genesis Girl" by @the_ya_gal. It's so good, go check it out seriously. So much so that whatever she says goes, she can even out speak the Tabula Rasa's headmaster. With a new graduating class coming and going, Ms. Lydia sees Blanca as the perfect candidate for being the next great Vestal there is. And with her strong roots in the Vestal ways and a strong work ethic, Ms. Lydia soon sees Blanca's true potential, and befriends her quickly. August 4th -- On Feel's Patrol!

I tried getting a close up of flowers with "Genesis Girl" in the background, but this looks cool too. 😋😊Yes, it's that time again! Time for another "Genesis Girl" post! This is my second to last post, and I can't believe that this tour is almost over. Today's theme is "Watch out for them feels!", so you can imagine we're going to talk about the feels you need to watch out for throughout this book. 😨😱 . . . I'm not going to say that "Genesis Girl" is a huge tearjerker, but it does play with your feels a bit. WARNING: At times this book can make you feel frustrated, scared, terrified, happy, and it can also make you swoon. Frustrated by the manipulation/betrayal, scared and terrified by some bone-chilling scenes, happy at the compassion and kindness throughout the book, and swoon at the romance. So, it is kind of an emotional rollercoaster, the only emotion it doesn't hit much of is sadness. If anything, it would be more pity, if there were and sadish moments. But all in all, most great books have a lot of feels, and this book is full of them. And I loved all the feels involved with this one.😏 . . . To experience some of these feels for yourself, I highly recommend you pick this one up. Trust me you won't regret it. Stay tuned for my final post on the 6th, which is also my review post! By the time Blamc is ready to think for herself, she is trapped. Her only chance of escape is to go online."

My Review

If I could give this book 5 million stars, I would. This book completely blew my mind, it was unlike anything I have ever read! No, I'm serious. The concept and plot line of this one is uniquely 100 percent original; which is part of the reason why I want to give it so many stars. I mean, just imagine if our world became corrupt with technology and our virtual realities, with us needed to document every moment, and then having a small group of people be completely shut-out from this. If that doesn't scream unique, I don't know what does. I've never heard of a premise of a book quite like this. And man did Jennifer do an amazing job with taking this cool idea and running with it. She has captivated me, I can't even begin to describe and process how many aspects this book has in it. But here's me trying; it's got romance, manipulation, some betrayal, some mystery, some sci-tech, and a whole lot of futuristic awesomeness!

The technology in this one was literally off-the-chain. Wow, tone it down fangirl side of me. No one says "off-the-chain" anymore. But as you can tell, it totally has my nerd side spazzing out. I mean can you imagine being able to post, tweet, gram, like, share, and snap, all from your fingertips! I can, and would totally jump at the chance, but with some precautions. I can thank Jennifer for kind of freaking me out about that kind of technology. But even then, finger-chips sound so cool! I can say, running a blog with a pair of those would probably be easy. But even with some cool tech, Jennifer created a very nice balance between no tech and high tech that doesn't distract readers from the main plot. Only satisfying nerds and geeks alike with cool futuristic tech that we can appreciate.

Now it did take a while for the plot to develop, and for me to get into the story. At first glimpse, I thought that this wasn't going to be my kind of book. It opened with Blanca and a peek into her sheltered life. And now that I look back at it, Jennifer did something that was really remarkable. She made Blanca sound like she was shut-off from the world with her word choice, which is ingenious. But starting out, it felt kinda dry and mono-toned, making me a little hesitant to dive more into the book. But once I did, holy cow! I fell in love with it! After the first few chapters, you get thrown into this new world, just as Blanca was. More characters get introduced like, Fatima, Ms. Lydia, Cal, and my favorite; Seth. All these characters are really reliable and very lovable. If I could make Seth by boyfriend, and Cal either a step-dad or uncle, my life would be made. Fatima would be an awesome sister. And Ms. Lydia sounds like she would be a teacher? I'm going to go with teacher. Anyway I found it very easy to relate and connect with the characters throughout this one. Even Blanca, who at first sounded like a loyal cyborg, or something, she really grow on me about half-way through the book. By the end, Blanca was easily one of my favorites too, right there with Seth and Cal. And after the story picked up, the plot really unfolded.

And that was when the craziness started to happen! The plot twists started to happen, you didn't know what was around the next corner, or around the next bend. That's when the tension stared to pressurize, romances started to pick up, manipulation and betrayal were on the rise, and it was very hard to predict what was going to happen next! Jennifer built up everything so perfectly, that it had me on the edge of my seat. And boy did she deliver a twist that I literally through the book on the other side of the room out of pure frustration and astonishment. I couldn't believe what I just read. I couldn't handle not knowing what was going to happen, that I stayed up until 7 a.m. finishing this one. And it couldn't have ended anymore perfectly! My feels have been shot, and I can't wait to get the next on in my hands!

So, just to recap. This has to be one of my favorite reads of this year. Jennifer if you a reading this, thank you for sharing your story with me and the world. You have left me breathless with your creative and unique plot line, and your writing style! I highly recommend you add this one to you TBR pile immediately! I don't want you to miss this incredible story, that I hope leaves you with wanting more, just like I do. So, until then Jennifer, I will be waiting!

Disclaimer: I received this book for free, and gave my honest opinion on this book, and did not have the fact that I got the book for free sway my review in anyway.

But when rookie Fair One, Pennie, allows her charge to use elemental powers once too often, she’s forced to travel to Earth—a place where no Fair One wants to go—to save her.

Now, Pennie has forty-eight hours to convince Tenley to stop manipulating the weather. But it won’t be so easy. Tenley’s got a way with wind and has no plans to stop using it.

But then a field trip provides the perfect opportunity for Mother Nature. She catapults Tenley deep into her gardens, where trees grow upside down and insects attack on command.

For Tenley, things get real, fast. And suddenly, knowing she’s got a few Elemental powers up her sleeve might be just what Tenley needs to survive. Even if it kills her.

Hadley Beach, California

Tenley Tylwyth needed votes.

Which is why today she stood outside in the busy quad wearing a sash draped over her left shoulder that read Vote For Me, Tenley T!

Behind her, a group of boys played Frisbee, while in front of her, students hurried by, ignoring the flyers she held out.

Please totally Nominate Tenley Tylwyth to represent Hadley Middle School on America’s Next Most Inspirational Teen this Friday Night.

When the Frisbee flew straight toward Tenley’s head, none of the students noticed.

Except one.

Holden Wonderbolt was a size or two skinnier than the other boys his age, with milk chocolate skin and impressive skateboard skills. He was on the way to the skate ramp when he spotted the Frisbee.

“Watch out!” he yelled.

Tenley turned around just as Holden leaped off his board and launched himself forward. Instead of intercepting the Frisbee, though, Holden sailed toward Tenley while above them, the Frisbee spun off in the opposite direction.

Had others seen it, they would have wondered: Did that Frisbee just stop in midair, flip itself sideways, and zoom off in a completely different direction? But no one had seen it. Not even Holden, who was busy preparing to land on Tenley.

This is what Tenley did: step back.

This is what Holden did: (crash) land.

This is what the rest of the students did: stare.

Oh, and a few photos were taken and posted on the Internet within seconds.

North West Observation Spot, Fair City

Standard Fair One 3rdi’s were sufficient enough to see everything happening on Earth, even from the far edge of Fair City. But Laraby must have missed something. Why would his client ditch his skateboard and dive toward another student like that?

He tapped at his 3rdi and groaned, then flung it back over his head into its holder. “Piece of junk. A 3rdi-All wouldn’t have missed anything,” he mumbled. Laraby coveted 3rdi-Alls, which were infinitely better, but were only issued to Lieutenant Fair Ones.

Frustrated, he rubbed his bald head and stepped back over jagged rocks and dust, the latter of which was always the archenemy of his pristine white robes. He pulled a controller out of his tool belt and entered some information. A small hologram screen appeared. A few more clicks and the scene he had just watched on Earth projected in front of him.

There was Holden, skateboarding through the quad, when suddenly and without reason, he flung himself off and dived straight into an unsuspecting girl. Nothing in Holden’s immediate surroundings gave any indication of potential danger. Wind, humidity, barometric pressure, fire, temperature, tectonic plates—all normal.

Laraby pulled his eyes off the screen and sighed. Today he was not in the mood. He’d been hoping to grab a small bite, and now his client’s potential injury would eat into his lunch hour. He’d have to fill out an accident report, for one thing, and Holden Wonderbolt was getting dangerously close to his limit. Another injury could very well result in a red flag for Laraby, which might then lead to a review. And although Laraby did quite enjoy Holden Wonderbolt, he had to admit the boy was a bit of a klutz.

Laraby prepared for departure. The sooner he submitted the report, the better. City Hall was becoming ever more crowded and less efficient.

Just as his propellers started to activate, a loud whirring sound made him take pause. There was nothing wrong with his equipment, as far as he could tell. No damage that he could recall, and he was always on top of the updates. But the whirring noise increased. Perhaps it was another Fair One coming to share his ob-spot. This seemed to be happening more frequently, even though he always picked the farthest, most remote sites to observe his client.

Or perhaps it was asteroid winds picking up. He’d heard talk the last time he was in City Hall that Mother Nature and her Weathers were on the brink of infiltrating the Fair Force’s protective layer again. A stronger system had been implemented since her first infiltration, but no one knew if this was enough. Mother Nature and her Weathers were becoming increasingly hostile, which meant the clients on Earth were in even more danger. Time spent filling out injury reports was precious time away from monitoring them.

Dust picked up around him. He’d washed his robes only yesterday. Annoyed, Laraby stepped out of the swirling debris but stopped when an enormous wind tunnel appeared overhead, close enough to be dangerous. With no time to protect his gear, Laraby took cover under his arms, abruptly knocking the 3rdi sideways. He yelped. A Fair One’s tools were powerful but not indestructible and once damaged, were never quite the same.

He waited for impact, but nothing happened. He peeked up at Fair Force, three of them, hovering a few meters above. Their badges were visible, and red sirens flashed over their propellers.

“Fair One lara b3. You are under arrest. Anything you think can and will be used against you. You are hereby ordered to City Hall in three minutes. Failure to do so will result in further penalty.”

“Officers,” Laraby shouted above the noise. “I think you must be mistaken.”

The Fair Force typed into a small tablet. A pocket in Laraby’s tool belt buzzed. The arrest warrant was delivered.

City Hall in three minutes? He’d never been arrested before.

“Good day,” the Fair Force nodded, before propelling upward and zooming away as fast as they had come.

“It’s lunch time,” Laraby grumbled, activating his propellers again. As soon as he felt his feet lift, he tipped his head left and started for City Hall.
